Why Black Angus Cattle:

The quality of Angus beef and production efficiency of Angus seedstock have made it the most popular beef cattle breed in America.  Black Angus cattle are known in the cattle business as "the business breed." The reason is simple: for anyone raising beef cattle it is the breed that puts the most beef on the hoof with the least work and crossed with other breeds they improve the beef load as well as quality of those breeds, making them a great herd-improvement cross, as well. They are well known for being even tempered and easy to work with.

Why LSR Black Angus Cattle:

The answer to that question is simple.  They grade choice and they perform efficiently in the feedlot.

History of Black Angus Cattle:

Records of the polled (naturally hornless) ancestors of the modern Angus breed date back to 600 A.D. Farmers in Scotland began keeping records of ancestry in their herds about 1800, and the first Herd Book of Angus was published in 1862. All of the purebred Angus in the world today can be traced back to those recorded in the early Scottish Angus herd books.
The first Angus cattle were brought to the United States in 1873 by George Grant, who established an agricultural development near Victoria, Kansas. The first bulls
were used to breed native Longhorn cows. The offspring created a sensation at the Kansas City Stockyards. They were so superior and produced such high quality beef that Angus were soon imported by the thousands.

The Black Angus trade association, the American Angus Association may just be the most effective trade organization currently operating.  Unlike trade organizations that boast of their prowess inside the Beltway, as stupid a claim--let me see, your prowess is explaining to 24 year old legislative interns why this or that business works differently than what they. two years out of college, think--pathetic, really--this trade association focuses on building consumer demand for black cows and then providing the science to improve the breed to meet that demand.  The result is that every other cattle breed is an also ran in the grocery store and every other breed is focused on attaining black coloration.
